About This Tour

This four-day journey follows the Murray River through ancient red gum forests, billabongs and ochre-coloured cliff country, guided by ecologists, naturalists and local experts. On foot, by canoe and aboard a luxury houseboat, participants walk river bends, paddle quiet backwaters and travel by 4WD to ephemeral lake systems, building a layered understanding of the landscapes that define this stretch of the river.

The Murray supports more than 180 bird species across its floodplains, forests and wetlands, alongside red kangaroos, emus, koalas, goannas and threatened species including the southern bell frog and regent parrot. Environmental flows are actively restoring habitat throughout the region, and the work behind that recovery is a central thread of the journey’s guided interpretation.

A luxury houseboat serves as the base throughout, with regional cuisine, Riverland wines and evenings on deck as the river settles. Small group numbers allow for close, unhurried engagement with the landscape and the conservation story unfolding within it.
